DIY ECO CLEANING TIPS AT HOME

Have you ever considered making some DIY cleaning products at home? Today we'll provide you with sustainable cleaning tips - using three of the most common things in your kitchen to create a self-made cleaning spray. Let’s get started!

Tip 1: Use baking soda.

Baking soda is not only helpful for baking, but can also be used for cleaning your home.

Mattress cleaning

First, remove the bedding and mattress cover. Then simply sprinkle some of the baking soda over the mattress. Do something else while you are waiting and let it sit for an hour. To finish off, bring out the vacuum cleaner and clean it all off!

Microwave cleaning

Mix two spoons of baking soda and a cup of water in a bowl. Then put the bowl in the microwave for three to five minutes. The funky odors will vanish by the baking soda. The spots and stains in the microwave will be steam cleaned by the water steam. All you need to do is use a sponge to wipe the dirt off.

Oven Cleaning

Make sure your oven is not on and has been cooled off. Sprinkle baking soda over the stains and spray with water or a water and vinegar solution. Let it sit for 25-30 minutes and then wipe off.

Tip 2: Vinegar cleaning hacks.

Vinegar is powerful to clean with. Compared to alkaline degreasing, vinegar could be more suitable for stubborn grease and hard water stains.

Coffee Maker cleaning

The coffee maker is one of the most frequently used objects at home. If you did not clean the coffee maker in time or thoroughly, there could  be mold growing inside which is bad for your health. Mix equal parts white distilled vinegar and water and pour into the coffee maker. Turn the machine on as if the machine is making coffee. When it is finished, you could pour the liquid back into the water reservoir and repeat the process. Then it’s time to rinse with fresh water. To eliminate the smell of vinegar, it is advisable to use the coffee maker to boil fresh water twice.

Refrigerator cleaning

The second place you want to try vinegar might be the refrigerator. Mix some vinegar and warm water (not too warm) into a spray bottle. Shake gently, spray and clean. Remember to wipe it afterwards with a dish cloth.

If you want an even better cleaning performance with a pleasant fragrance you can also use our multipurpose cleaner to clean your refrigerator.

Mirror cleaning
The next place where vinegar works well is the mirrors or walls where some soap scum and other water stains are usually left and hard to clean with only water. Mix a spoon of vinegar and a teaspoon of dish soap with some water to create a spray. After you spread the vinegar spray on the surface of the glass for around 20 minutes, then rinse it off with water.

Considering the strong vinegar smell this solution probably has, we also recommend the mirror cleaning tablets with fresh smell and without non-toxic chemicals.

Tip 3: Citric Acid Cleaning

Lemon is a popular option when people think of self-made detergents. Without much need to explain, the fresh smell from either citric acid or fresh lemons can both freshen up odors and clean.

Dishwasher cleaning

It is recommended to put a teaspoon of citric acid into the detergent compartment and run the dishwasher empty.

Bathroom cleaning

Citric acid is usable for faucet and bathroom cleaning as well. Add a teaspoon of non-diluted vinegar, a teaspoon of citric acid and some water together with a few drops of detergent or essential oils to get the mixture for bathroom cleaning. Spray the baking soda solution at the toilet bowl area, the sinks and other areas. Let it sit for around ten to twenty minutes before you flush it away, and then you have a clean bathroom!
